Heart
of a Dog
Zoo
District is proud to announce its participation in the First Annual
Bulgakov Festival this September in Kiev, Ukraine, performing Michael
Franco's adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's classic novella, "Heart
of a Dog," directed by Antony Sandoval.
Heart
of a Dog is the story of a dog that is turned into a man by
science, with less than stellar results, and was the first work
of Bulgakov's to be banned in the former Soviet Union for its scathing
satire. The festival is being organized by The First International
Bulgakov Festival, The Mikhail Bulgakov Creative Foundation and
The Kiev State Drama Theatre on Podol. This production and tour
have been made possible by a grant from the Trust
for Mutual Understanding.
Zoo District will perform four preview benefit performances of "Heart
of a Dog" in late August. For information call Zoo District
at 323-769-5674 or visit us again here later in the summer.
